LaTourell's location on Moose Lake, the closest resort to Basswood Lake, the BWCA and Canada, is without a doubt the "The Gateway" to the best fishing waters in the Ely, MN area. This area has long been famous for having some of the best fresh water fishing to be found anywhere...great Smallmouth Bass, Walleye and Northern Pike fishing awaits you.Our location is truly a "fisherman's paradise."
Our housekeeping cabins allow you to enjoy this wilderness setting within the comfort of our modern accommodations. After spending the day fishing the famous Moose Lake Chain and Basswood Lake, hiking on the excellent trails adjacent to the resort, or canoeing on one of the many surrounding lakes, you'll be able to relax and enjoy the sunset from the deck of your cabin overlooking Moose Lake. Each cabin has a completely equipped kitchen (including microwaves), modern bathrooms and showers, and comfortable bedrooms with all bedding provided.
From our location, you will have the easiest of access into some of the best fishing waters in North America. From our base you have access to fish the Moose Lake Chain plus famous Basswood Lake. The Moose Lake Chain and Basswood Lake are located within the Boundary Waters (BWCA), a protected wilderness area. These lakes are not crowded and are limited to 25 hp motors... ideal for the serious fisherman. LaTourell's is the closest resort to Basswood Lake, a border lake between Minnesota and Canada. Basswood Lake has produced many record fish including the current Minnesota state record Northern Pike. It is reached with the easiest of access a short distance up the Moose Lake Chain.

Well Equipped Store: A wide arrangement of fishing tackle is available which we've found to be effective in our area lakes. You can also purchase clothing, refreshments, snacks, gas, ice, and other supplies.
Excellent Hiking Trails Adjacent to LaTourell's: The Blackstone/Secret Hiking Trails system is very scenic and provides an excellent opportunity to view the wildlife that frequent our forests.
Fishing Guides: We offer guided day trips to famous Basswood Lake with Veteran Guides. Fees start at $160/day. Call for a specific quote.
Abundant Wildlife to be Seen
You will see bald eagles and osprey soaring overhead, beaver swimming near their lodges, and moose feeding in shallow bays. You'll hear the cry of the loons and howl of the timberwolf.
